Data Coordinator
OVERVIEW:
The Black Visions Data Coordinator will ensure management and upkeep of the organization’s data and data infrastructure. The Data Coordinator focuses on data hygiene, data entry, and the day-to-day data needs of our organizing, digital/communications, and resource/fundraising teams. The Data Coordinator manages Black Visions’ data needs by being in the weeds and with the people on our data. The Data Coordinator collaborates extensively across the organization. A successful Data Coordinator will be laser-focused on the precision, transparency, and process needed in data to make sure it accurately represents our communities and facilitates power for our people.
We aim to create a collaborative, joyous, workplace and seek someone committed to social justice and ready to dig into building an all Black-led organization. In the first year of this role, the Data Coordinator will participate in our strategic planning activities as it relates to supporting our work around resource stewardship and our financial independence.

Since 2017, Black Visions has been putting into practice the lessons learned from organizations before us, as well, our direct experience in building within the Movement for Black Lives, in order to shape a political home for Black people across Minnesota. Black Visions sees central to our work, the development of a Black-led ecosystem of arts, politics, and culture. Through our intentional growth process, we aim to center our work in healing and transformative justice principles, intentionally develop our organizations core “DNA” to ensure sustainability, and develop Minnesota’s emerging Black leadership to lead powerful campaigns. By building movements from the ground up with an integrated model, we are creating the conditions for long term success and transformation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES -- Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage Organizational Data
Understand the goals and strategies of our campaigns, membership, communications, and resource/fundraising teams as they relate to data, and be ready and able to support and collaborate in their day-to-day data needs
Bottomline data entry from all events and activities; organize new contacts appropriately
Ensure quality data entry and data hygiene on all projects
Frequently audit data for duplication and consistency; adapt/edit data as needed (activist codes, subscriber lists, etc)
Assist staff with reports and data extraction as needed and in coordination with organizing, communications, and resource/fundraising teams
Train and coach individual staff and volunteers on data systems and practices as needed
Data will include: financial, program contacts, member/volunteer information, and donors
Cross Pod Support and Coordination
Support teams in identifying and addressing data needs, both planned and unexpected, as they arise for their campaigns and programs
Execute list-pulling, turf-cutting, and phone and text-bank set-up for community organizing, electoral, and resource-generating campaigns
Onboard new staff to data systems and practices
Support staff in honing their data skills and practices, and improving tracking systems for leadership development, membership, and communications strategy.
Develop tools for collecting new contacts (registration forms, petitions, etc)
Work directly with finance and resource mobilization team to track income via CRM
Strategize with resource mobilization team on donor engagement and tracking
Build and maintain organizational data infrastructure and strategy.
Manage and set data practices and principles for organization
Liaise with EveryAction and other external parties as needed
Work closely with other users of our data to leverage data strategy and infrastructure opportunities to make our work more impactful.
Research and train on new technology and data practices to maximize CRM use
Data is becoming an increasingly wide field at Black Visions. This role will support staff in data projects within other platforms as needed.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 2- 3+ years of data-related experience, whether paid or unpaid, training or execution.
Experience with VAN or EveryAction or other movement-building CRMs.
Strive to provide high quality support by being consistent, agile, reliable, and accessible to all.
Willingness to engage in the big picture AND do the work in the weeds, both as an individual and in deep collaboration with coworkers and as part of teams.
Must be relationship-oriented and motivated with strong interaction within the organization and across levels.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficient written and verbal communication skills with experience in Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and MSWord as well as GSuite (bonus points if you are comfortable with project management software like monday.com)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and heavy phone usage. Flexibility to work outside normal business hours that include evenings and weekends and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.
*Due to COVID-19, Black Visions staff are currently working from home with a few moments (about 1x/month) when staff are expected in person.
REPORTS TO & LOCATION
This position reports directly to the Senior Finance Manager
Position is located in Minneapolis, MN. All Black Visions staff must have a home address in Minnesota.

Salary range: $ 59,000- $62,000 commensurate with experience
Salary will be set commensurate with experience and will include a full package of benefits including health and dental insurance, matching retirement, investment in personal development, and an expansive time off policy.
